Design that moves things forward.

I'm Mallory— a senior product designer turning gnarly operational problems into interfaces that feel obvious in hindsight. Ten whole years making stuff, four products worth showing, one strong opinion about AI usage.

02 — About

A little about me.

I lead end-to-end product design at operationally heavy B2B and B2C companies. An end user orders something online, and that's where I come in. Warehouses and order management systems, parcel shippers, returns, insurance claims, picking and packing and- Man, getting things to people is a whole thing.

I've built a team and worked solo, taught an intern, educated engineers and product managers on user research, pitched ideas, got those ideas approved, conducted workshops, rebuilt platforms, branded AI, set up qualitative research practices, created about 1000 prototypes, and mostly loved it all. *wink

03 — Beliefs

A short list of things I keep coming back to.

Not a manifesto. Just the rules of thumb I make decisions against.
On AI

AI is a thinking partner, not a shortcut.

I use AI daily as a thinking tool — for drafts, synthesis, and breaking patterns — but always with a critical eye. It accelerates what I already understand. Good judgment, strong character, and human intelligence still do the best work.

use it · don't outsource to it
On craft

Work hard and work thoroughly.

The second draft is where it gets good; the fifth is where it gets right. I'd rather ship one thing I can be proud of than five things I'll have to apologize for later. Thoroughness compounds — in research, in pixels, in the questions you ask before the meeting.

measure twice · cut once · then check it
On the user

Care about the person on the other side of the screen.

Someone is going to use this on a Tuesday at 4:47pm, late on a deadline, with a bad headset and a worse manager. My job is to lower their heart rate, not raise it. Every flow gets the same question: would a real person, having a real day, feel respected by this?

design for the bad day, not the demo
On the whole life

Do my best in all areas of life.

The same standards I bring to a design review I try to bring to a long run, a friendship, a difficult conversation, a Sunday dinner. Design is a practice, and the practice doesn't stop when I close the laptop. The best designers I know are good neighbors first.

whole person · whole work

Mallory has demonstrated exceptional adaptability and professional growth this year, successfully transitioning from a single-product focus at W2G to effectively owning design for the entire Stord brand facing platform. Her progress is evident in her adaptability, efficiency, and strategic facilitation of product workshops.

Mallory has been instrumental to the AI team, but more importantly, the larger R&D organization. I remember the first presentation at R&D whiteboard -- I was getting slack messages along the lines of "where has this design been for the last ...". I think she has the ability to inspire the engineering teams and keeping everyone excited about the work that we do while delivering value to our customers.
